There are many characteristics about the moon. The moon has deep holes in its crust because many asteroids and other object would make contact with the moon and create a big hole. On the moon the tempreture during the day time can get up to 107 degrees celcius and during the night time it can get as cold as negative as -153 degrees celcius. The Moon is approximately 239,000 miles from the Earth. The diameter of the Moon is 2162 miles. The Moon looks bright at night because of sunlight that is reflected off its surface. The force of gravity from the Moon affects the Earth. Its gravity reaches the Earth and pulls the oceans toward the Moon, causing the tides. The gravity from the Sun also affects the tides. The highest tides will always occur when the Moon and Sun are aligned. That is when there is a New Moon or a Full Moon. It has also many phases which is based on where its oreantation is when it is revolving the earth. The expieriment that we are doing right now about how massive the craters that hit the moon helped me understand this and much more about the moon.
